Was it a weekend with your boyfriend, a one-night fling, or was it the wrong timing with your spouse? Whatever your situation may be, take a deep breath. If you just found out you’re pregnant, and you’re considering abortion, we want to help you be able to process what this might look like and take into account what it might entail.

Who we are, and what you can expect?

We are a pregnancy resource center located in the Knoxville area. We offer sexual health medical services to men and women at no cost and in a judgment-free environment. Many of our staff and client volunteer advocates have walked through what you are facing and have the heart to serve you because they didn’t have the support they needed when they were in your shoes.

Four things to consider when thinking about an abortion:

  1. There are different kinds of abortions. The type of abortion depends on how far you are in your pregnancy.

  1. Abortion types are Medical Abortion, Vacuum Aspiration, Dilation and Evacuation (D&E), and Labor Induction.

  1. Confirming your pregnancy is essential before making an abortion appointment because 10 – 20% of pregnancies end in a miscarriage, according to the Mayo Clinic. Additionally, there is a possibility of an ectopic pregnancy. This would need to be addressed with your primary physician.

  1. Many women are concerned about risks. With any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects. For example, if you have an untreated Sexually Transmitted Disease or Infection (STD / STI), there is a possibility that infection could spread to other reproductive organs.

If you’re thinking about abortion, why not let us confirm your pregnancy with a pregnancy test and ultrasound. Then we can be a set of ears for you to process your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Next, we can answer any medical and legal questions you may have regarding abortion in Tennessee. Lastly, we have community resources we can offer you, depending on your needs.

“If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can’t survive.”Brené Brown

At PRC Tennessee, you can expect accurate medical information, dedicated and compassionate care, as well as the tools you need to be equipped and empowered to make an informed decision. Although PRC Tennessee does not provide or refer for abortions, our goal is to care about not only your physical health but your mental and emotional health, too, because all three of those aspects make up you, and you matter!
